Minimally invasive surgery has used in surgical procedures that make them safer and seamless for patients.
FREMONT, CA: Over the past few decades, innovations have been made in surgical processes that make them safer and seamless for patients. Minimally invasive surgery has become the standard for procedures conventionally done with an open technique. These processes include robotic surgery, endoscopic surgery, and laparoscopic surgery. Minimally invasive surgeries only need small incisions because modern instruments enable surgeons to work without opening up the areas they’re operating on. Cameras, computers, and instrument potent of very precise movements make these processes possible. There are advantages of minimally invasive surgery.

Many processes can be done leveraging robotics or minimally invasive techniques instead of the legacy open technique. Minimally invasive surgery can be performed on the digestive system, urologic system, lungs, kidneys, and gynecologic system. Common gynecologic operations done with robotic assistance are ovarian cyst removal, ovarian cancer treatment, endometriosis treatment, hysterectomy, and oophorectomy.
One of the advantages of minimally invasive surgery is that it only needs small incisions. Traditional open surgery requires larger incisions to access the body part being operated on. For instance, a conventional open hysterectomy needs a six to twelve-inch incision. Because robotic and laparoscopic processes use small specialized tools, the surgeon can evaluate body parts through smaller openings. A hysterectomy done with the robotic system needs incisions that are less than an inch long. Procedures may want several small incisions, but this is still preferable to a long incision in an open process. Many of the other advantages of minimally invasive processes are related to these small incisions.
In minimally invasive processes that use special cameras, the surgeon can get an improved view of the area they are operating on. The innovative instruments leveraged in these procedures also enable more delicate and complex work to be done correctly. Therefore, these surgeries are better accurate and produce improved outcomes. Patients who have a minimally invasive surgery have less pain and discomfort than patients that had open surgery. This may be because there are fewer traumas to the body during this surgery. Some open procedures need large sections of muscles and tissue to be cut.
