In August 2023, DirectMed Imaging acquired Technical Prospects. Recently, DirectMed Imaging made the strategic decision to exit the equipment service business, choosing to concentrate on its core strengths in parts, systems sales, and training. The company is headquartered in Appleton, Wisconsin.

Crothall, based in Wayne, Pennsylvania, provides support to nearly 1,300 healthcare service teams across 150 healthcare organizations in 46 states and territories. Its services encompass healthcare technology solutions, environmental services, patient transport and observation, facilities management, ambulatory services, and sterile processing.

DirectMed Imaging asserts that the acquisition of Technical Prospects' field service division enhances its capabilities, enabling it to better compete with other independent service organizations and original equipment manufacturers in the industry.

The acquisition brings even more depth and breadth to Crothall’s capability on the latest Siemens Healthineers imaging products,” said Geoffrey Hunt, Crothall’s VP of imaging healthcare technology solutions, in a statement.

Moreover, healthcare providers relying on Technical Prospects and its field service division will gain access to a range of new healthcare technology management services. These services include proactive planning, predictive maintenance, stringent compliance measures, and seamless disposal. This comprehensive approach enables providers to implement a well-coordinated and cost-effective maintenance and management plan, supported by data analytics, across all original equipment manufacturer (OEM) modalities throughout their life cycles.

All personnel within the field service division have now become part of Crothall Healthcare, integrating seamlessly into the existing Crothall Healthcare brand. Crothall's Healthcare Technology Solutions (HTS) division achieved ISO 13485 certification in 2019 and was recertified in 2022.

In November, at the RSNA 2023 Annual Meeting, DirectMed Parts & Services announced its decision to discontinue the equipment service brand. The company introduced its new brand, DirectMed Imaging, unifying its recently acquired subsidiaries—Technical Prospects, ScanMed, and LBN Medical—under a single identity. This rebranding initiative includes a new logo, visual identity, and the brand concept, "Comprehensive Made Simple."
