Following the continued success of its Smarting Recycle Program, pioneering portable EEG company mBrainTrain announces the 2025 edition. Over the past two years, the program has provided refurbished Smarting devices to several research and educational projects across developing countries — enabling impactful neuroscience work where resources are limited.
The awarded projects have explored a wide range of topics, from cognitive function, stress detection using AI and EEG in underserved mental health settings and neurodevelopmental disorders to the cultural and environmental influences on the brain. These collaborations have demonstrated just how transformative access to high-quality EEG systems can be for both emerging researchers and established labs operating on tight budgets.

Staying true to its core mission — to empower scientists, promote sustainability, and expand access to neuroscience — mBrainTrain invites researchers and institutions from developing countries to apply for Smarting Recycle Program 2025.
The initiative gives existing mBrainTrain customers the opportunity to upgrade their current Smarting or Smarting mobi devices with a 20% discount when trading in for the next-generation Smarting PRO or Smarting PRO X systems.
Returned devices are professionally refurbished by the mBrainTrain team and prepared for donation. These EEG systems maintain excellent signal quality, robust wireless communication, and sub-millisecond synchronization — making them reliable tools for mobile neuroscience research, even outside traditional lab settings.
In addition to supporting research, the program also contributes to neuroscience education. A portion of the refurbished systems is dedicated to academic institutions and student training, helping nurture the next generation of brain researchers.
“We’re proud of how this program has grown — not just in size, but in impact,” says the mBrainTrain team. “Each donated system represents a step toward a more inclusive and sustainable future for neuroscience. We’re excited to continue that mission in 2025 and invite others to join us in spreading the word.”
