eSight and Gentex create next-generation digital eyewear.
FREMONT, CA: The eyes affect people's vision and mood. Improved well-being is a possible outcome of taking better care of one's eyesight. Work, education, and personal life are all impacted by the quality of vision. When vision is in peak condition, people are more productive in every area of their life. In addition, eye strain causes headaches, exhaustion, and other symptoms that prohibit people from feeling their best. Preceding the CES, Gentex Corporation partners with premier vision enhancement technology provider eSight to create the next generation of mobile electronic eyeglasses to benefit those with visual impairments.

“For decades, we've used our vision-related capabilities to deliver automotive products that enhance driving safety,” states Neil Boehm, Gentex vice president of engineering and chief technology officer. “We look forward to putting these same competencies to use with eSight as we join forces to help overcome vision loss from macular degeneration and other vision-related challenges.”
For decades, Gentex has been in business as a leading manufacturer of electro-optical components for the automotive, aerospace, and fire safety industries; when it comes to linked car technology and other advanced electronic systems that improve visibility and safety while driving, practically every major manufacturer relies on this company.
With eSight's wearable assistive technology, people with vision impairments can go about their regular lives without being hindered. More than 20 different eye problems can be improved functionally by the all-in-one medical equipment, which often allows users to reach visual acuity of 20/20. In its fourth generation, eSight's eyewear uses a high-definition camera, proprietary algorithms, and powerful processing to collect real-time video and display it onto two high-quality, near-to-eye screens for full binocular vision.
“Our device can change lives and improve the quality of life for the millions of people around the world who live with low vision,” states eSight Chief Commercial Officer Brian McCollum. “By harnessing Gentex’s expertise in digital vision technologies, we hope to make our vision enhancement platform even more functional and accessible.”
