F0 value is one of the most challenging terms when making preserved foods or ready-to-eat meals. Decontamination of packaged food is essential as packaged food sterilization is a preservation method that entails subjecting hermetically packaged goods to high temperatures for a predetermined amount of time to eradicate all microorganisms, pathogenic or non-pathogenic, including spores.

The F0 value is the thermal lethality time required to eradicate all bacteria contained in foods by exposing them, and it is represented in minutes.
