The Microdose Array Print (MAP) Technology has demonstrated promise in clinical testing, offering the potential for more precise ocular drug delivery than conventional eye droppers.

Ocular drug administration technologies, on the other hand, have seen modest innovation over the past century; the conventional eye dropper used today has remained substantially constant. In an effort to streamline practice flow and improve patient experience, Eyeenovia is developing one of the first microdosing systems to enable the digital delivery of eye medications, a company developing late-stage microdose array print (MAP„) therapies.

"Traditional eye droppers are cumbersome, inaccurate, and prone to contamination. Even when handled with care, there's still a significant likelihood that medication patients are paying for gets wasted due to missing drops,” adds Rowe.
The investigational delivery device is presently only utilized in clinical trials, but it has shown promise for offering cleaner and more effective ocular drug administration.
Uniquely constructed with no protruding parts and a recessed nozzle to avoid contact with the patient's eyes, lowering the risk of infection. Eyenovia also anticipates that a more comfortable dosage experience will lead to a paradigm shift in eye care.
Eye drop innovation has stalled partly due to evolving medical device rules that make it more difficult for patients to obtain breakthrough devices. Safety takes primacy in the medical device sector; nevertheless, as digital innovation outpaces bureaucratic regulatory agencies, regulators are pushed to keep up with cutting-edge new technologies that push the technological envelope.
Similar paradigm shifts in medical technology, such as pacemakers, cochlear implants, 3-D printed body parts, and artificial hearts, have greatly improved the quality of life and patient care in their respective industries, although the world of healthcare looked very different a century ago. Medical devices account for 7.5 percent of healthcare expenditures in the majority of publicly funded healthcare systems in Europe, and the American environment has taken notice.
