The endoscopy area of medical science has evolved a lot in the past few decades. Earlier only semi-flexible instruments were used for the procedure, but then after some years, the era of fibroendoscopy with the use of glass fiber optic came. Then the following years brought enhancement in the size of the image, working length was raised, and several new additions happened. Though endoscopy is generally safe, there are still some key issues that require particular attention, and the biggest of them all is hygiene. In the endoscopy and respiratory section, the firm offers a range of products that help in keeping endoscopy equipment disinfected. Sharing an exciting anecdote on that note, Penz recalls a situation where they have an endoscope product, which is usually hung in a closet. One of the issues was moisture build up, resulting in potential bacteria growth, which made it more difficult to clean and use. “So, we developed a long sleeve, inhale sleeve like application, called scope sleeve, which prevents bacteria growth by offering an obstruction filter from the environment,” says Penz.

Medtrica is going to get a new 3000 square feet facility in October; also a section of the firm is shifting to another facility in Missouri to address logistic issues. The firm will be launching a disinfectant wipes and sprays products which would not be toxic. “We want to get into organic, non-toxic solutions for individuals in the workplace, in the medical workplace and the environment. It is essential to us, we are a very environmentally-conscious company, we can’t recycle much, but now we see the need for more organic and sustainable solutions,” concludes Penz.
