Human in Motion Robotics makes a mark in the exoskeleton space with its advanced wearable lower limb exoskeleton system, bringing hope to mobility-challenged individuals.

Whether they are in rehabilitation training recovering from trauma or have entirely lost their mobility and need movement aids, the system is designed to assist and enhance a user’s lower body movements.

Existing exoskeletons in the market offer limited degrees of freedom and a range of motions that do not come with selfbalancing capabilities. Individuals need the assistance of a human attendant to change directions and ensure safety. For example, a user has to rely on their upper body strength or seek help from others to turn. This is very exhaustive for attendants and users. The dependency and functional limitations also prevent most individuals in rehab from completing therapy.

Human in Motion Robotics’ disruptive next-gen exoskeleton system allows all ranges of motion required to support lower body movement like sitting, standing, walking at different speeds, backward stepping or walking, side stepping, turning, changing directions, and climbing slopes and stairs.

It has successfully incorporated self-balancing capabilities in its exoskeletons, eliminating the need for a helper to change directions and ensure safety while walking, sitting, standing, or climbing slopes. Users can move their joints independently and change direction effortlessly with Human in Motion Robotics’ exoskeletons that support the hip joint, which is responsible for a person’s movement in all directions, including walking forward, going sideways, and turning.

Human in Motion Robotics’ patented technology uses three interconnected actuators that work synchronously to support the 3D motion of the hip joint and facilitate lower body functionalities.

This way, it minimizes the weight and size of the whole structure and eliminates any discomfort. Its unique technology aligns the center of rotation of the robotic and biological joints that prevent the transfer of excessive load to the biological joints, avoiding the potential injuries traditional exoskeletons cause.

Human in Motion Robotics’ rehab version of the exoskeleton is designed to help individuals with different conditions that result in motion disabilities like stroke, traumatic brain injury, incomplete spinal cord injury (SCI), Parkinson’s, and MS regain their lost mobility. It allows the patient and the therapist to work in collaboration. It has a therapist controller panel that allows therapists to set goals, like the type of exercises for patients, and a handheld controller that helps users execute the motions. Users can select different motions—walking forward, turning, side-stepping—they wish to perform with the handheld controller.

Human in Motion Robotics’ user version device is designed to replace wheelchairs. Users who lost their mobility, e.g., complete SCI or elderly can use the handheld controller to walk naturally and independently, similar to able-bodied individuals, and can go back to their normal life.

Keeping people in motion, the Human in Motion Robotics system prevents secondary health complications, including muscle and bone density loss, cardio-vascular and circulatory difficulties, bladder issues, and pressure sores due to constant wheelchair use.
