The mastermind behind this invention is Dr. Chen Han-min, a biochemistry and enzyme chemistry specialist, and a co-founder and vice-chairman of Energenesis Biomedical. The novel ATP mechanism can be applied to all kinds of wounds. ENERGI-F703 is built mainly to cure diabetic foot ulcer, a complicated wound of diabetic patients, which is recognized as the most hard-to-heal wound. The current treatment is limited only to cleaning and maintaining the wound until it heals. On the contrary, ENERGI-F703 can help the epithelial cells migrate and close up the wound more effectively to achieve a faster-wound healing process. The company has already demonstrated the efficacy and safety of ENERGI-F703 in its phase 2 trial.

Throwing light on the future roadmap, Dr. Chen says, “Right now, our focus is on conducting the phase III trial for the ENERGI-F703 in the US and other regions; we look forward to rallying partners who are also targeting the wound healing market.” The phase III trial is to be conducted for the diabetic foot ulcer; however, once the asset is developed, we may seek its application to different indications such as venous leg ulcer, bedsore, burn, and more.
