Transporting patient-ready endoscopes to the point of use and soiled endoscopes to the reprocessing area should be done in appropriately labeled, rigid, well-sealed containers to correctly identify the contents, minimize equipment damage and risk, and prevent airborne contamination. Between procedures, flexible endoscopes should be stored vertically in a closed-door storage cabinet providing HEPA-filtered airflow and endoscope channel drying.
