CardiAI stepped into the world of healthcare optimization with its proprietary blood pressure monitoring device BPAro. The small, portable ambulatory blood pressure monitor is designed to automatically measure blood pressure at regular intervals, while the patient goes about their everyday activities. Built with effective and updated health parameters and technology, BPAro can constantly and dynamically monitor human blood pressure for up to seven days and generate reports based on medical guidelines.

As a clinically validated device for accuracy, this FDA and Health Canada-approved product can be used at home or at a hospital, clinic, or other medical facility.

These reports are then saved on the user’s personal cloud account in a HIPAA-compliant manner which can be securely accessed via the BPAro app. The software then automatically interprets the information according to the user’s requirements and clinical conditions, providing actionable insights to clinicians for better decision-making. For example, it can provide average blood pressure, display nighttime and daytime blood pressure readings, and evaluate the heart rate correlation with those readings. Additionally, if a patient experiences increased blood pressure readings throughout the night, the BPAro App can correlate their condition to sleep apnea.

All this information is automatically added to the reporting template, which can be easily integrated with any EMR system using an HL7 interface. As a result, the information can be shared more easily and seamlessly than ever before. Patients will also have access to these reports, enabling them to self-evaluate their progress, and focus on self-management. BPAro also gathers information about patients’ BMI, allowing clinicians to educate them on effective lifestyle modification, including weight loss.

Ever the innovator, CardiAI recently came up with a system to provide accurate, at-home blood testing. In the final stages of development is a home blood testing system that allows a person to detect symptoms related to heart conditions. It will be incorporated with troponin and NTpro BNP tests, which are generally utilized in diagnosing patients with heart issues.

The new system comes with a simple testing method, where patients can place a droplet of blood on the device— like checking blood glucose. Results are generated in a few minutes, helping them easily identify why they are having symptoms, such as shortness of breath. This information is then transmitted to a clinician promptly, allowing patients to access care as quickly as possible.

It recently collaborated with a cardiology clinic in Edmonton, Canada, that still used a non-clinically validated, 24-hour blood pressure monitor. The reporting software lacked Bluetooth connectivity and was not cloud-backed, which forced them to manually download, correct, type, and print reports before sending them to clinicians. This was tedious, expensive, time-consuming, and went against guidelines.

When CardiAI came on board and deployed its BPAro system, the clinic was able to automate the entire process. The solution helped them to automatically generate and interpret reports while also allowing physicians and patients to log in to the BPAro app or portal to access the report.

By using the HL7 interface, CardiAI helped them integrate these reports into their existing EMR systems and then seamlessly share them via email or fax. Post collaboration, the client was able to save thousands of dollars on employee costs and dedicate their workforce to providing care in other areas.
