With the biochip, CAMPTON successfully eliminates the need for laboratories and controlled environments to perform diagnostics and help caregivers carry out the conventional Enzyme-Linked ImmunoSorbent Assay (ELISA) and recombinant immunoblot assay tests in patient locations. The tests deliver faster results, helping to improve patient care and treatment. The system is deliberately designed to use different biological substances for the identification of the various corresponding diseases.

The Biochip Reader leverages electrical biochip technology to conduct measurements automatically from a drop of patients’ blood. The company has introduced a miniaturized, automated POC system to support the fast and reliable measurement of biomarkers. With a gold electrode array, the system facilitates detection of multiple biomarkers from a blood sample within 7 minutes. CAMPTON’s efficient biochip system is capable of integrating all the ELISA tests. All it needs is disease-specific protein agents in the patient’s blood sample. In addition, with only a miniaturized integrated electronics and disposable cartridges, the technology can be contracted to small size according to convenience.

In the wake of COVID-19, CAMPTON is working on PCR-based and serological tests capable of detecting people infected with the novel virus. While PCR technology is used to identify direct pathogens in the early stage of the infection, serological tests determine antibodies present in the blood to neutralize the virus. These tests can be crucial to detect individuals who have developed immunity by rapid antibody formation against the virus. The company aims to develop a reader that can execute both a serological test and viral RNA amplification reaction test simultaneously. With the serological test conducted, the LAMP (Limbic system associated membrane protein) sample is examined by the reader for viral genetic material to detect whether an individual is infected or not.
