“Regardless of where our clients are in the designing phase, we offer recommendations on how the design can be improved and what materials they need to ensure a successful project,” says Vardya. ASC then takes the final design and builds prototypes on a quick-turn basis. Customers can then test and modify it according to their needs, after which the PCBs go can into production.

Vardya highlights an instance where a client approached ASC with a 3-layer rigid-flex design. On carefully analyzing it, ASC noticed that they had the flexible layer on the outside of the PCB something that will normally make the board hard to build and can cause massive yield problems. The company recommended the client to go with a 4-layer design instead. Unfortunately, ASC was not the first company that the customer had approached, and their version of the PCB was already in production. Regardless, on understanding the value of ASC’s recommendations, the clients chose to handover the project midway. The results were more than optimum. ASC reduced their overall cost by 30 percent and was able to quickly custom-build a fully functional, PCB from scratch.
